I am happy to announce the release of Eye-Opener 4.0 for both iOS and Android devices. And this release of our peripheral vision trainer is special. Here’s why.
First of all, Eye-Opener 4.0 was recreated from scratch using Godot – free and open-source game engine. I did it myself, so now adding new features will be much more straightforward (for previous versions I hired freelancers). The advantage of Godot is that allows to release the app with a single source code on multiple platforms:
- iOS
- Android
- Windows
- macOS
- Linux
So, yes, Windows, macOS, and Linux versions are coming soon.
Here’s the list of major updates and how you can train your peripheral vision even better:
1) The most important thing is that now you can set the length of pauses in the animation cycle:
- the first pause is when the moving bar is at the bottom of the screen,
- the second pause is when the moving bar is at the top.
It may seem minor, however there’s one huge advantage. Now you can synchronize your breathing with the movement of the bar on the screen. That helps you to be much more engaged in the practice and make sure you actually use your peripheral vision all the time.
It also transforms your screen time into a breathing meditation!
2) Now you can set the moving bar color and thickness. If you practice in the evening, you can set the color to red or orange.
3) You can select different sounds that will be played if you don’t react fast enough. You have a selection of birds, ocean, river, rain, and fireplace. The sounds are provided by Freesound.org.
4) You can set a reminder to take a break. When the time of the break arrives, the session is paused. In order to end the break, simple press the button “I took a break”.
5) Session results are displayed after each session. That includes the session length, number of cycles, and average reaction time.
6) Now you can review your activity: by sessions or by days.
